STeP by OEKO-TEX®

The standard encourages manufacturers to optimize their production technologies and working conditions in terms of increased environmental protection, workplace safety and a sense of social responsibility. This certification system is intended for those brands, trading companies and manufacturers within the textile and leather supply chain who want to communicate their achievements in the field of sustainable production to the public in a transparent, credible and understandable way.

STeP by OEKO-TEX goes beyond the OEKO-TEX product standards. This distinguishing mark is based on an environmental and social examination of the entire production process.

The standard analyzes individual areas of the company using the following 6 modules:

• Chemical management
• Environmental performance
• Environmental management
• Social responsibility
• Quality control
• Health protection and workplace safety

To be certified according to the STeP by OEKO-TEX standard, companies must meet specific requirements for their environmentally friendly production process.

Required requirements include but are not limited to:

• the exclusion of auxiliary materials and dyes harmful to the environment,
• compliance with the laws on the purification of waste water and polluted air,
• energy saving,
• avoiding noise and dust generation,
• adequate quality assurance,
• compliance with occupational health and safety regulations,
• prohibition of child labour,
• introducing the basic elements of an environmental protection management system.

In addition to the above certificates, the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) certification audit has begun at Naturtex Ltd.. A key element of sustainable and competitive operation is that businesses examine and understand their environmental and social impact on the community, as well as the corporate governance structure and transparency meet the demands of ESG.
